Saturday saw us entertain OUP, this will be the last time they will play as OUP, as they are having to give up their green to the Golf Club, which they say will not happen for another 2 or more years. But they will be merging with Begbroke, so we will still see their members but under a new umbrella. We had to loan them 3 of our players, so a huge thank you to John Standen, Mick Wilkins and Steve Clarke for agreeing to play for the opposition. The weather was perfect, lovely sunshine, but not too hot, and the green, as usual played very well. the overall result was a win for us by 75 shots to 58.

A very close game and after 12 ends Chris's triple were leading by 1 shot 12-11. However a disastrous 13th end saw them concede 7 shots, but they fought back well and going into the final end the scores were level 19-19, but unfortunately they lost the last end by 1 shot and the match 19-20.

A slow start from the Captains rink conceding a 5 on the 4th end to be behind 7-2, but they won 10 of the remaining 14 ends to come home victorious 20-17.

A close game up to the 11th end, when the scores were 8-7 in our favour, but a strong finish saw us comfortable winners 15-10.
Rink 4 - Lead - Dave Drinkwater
No. 2 - Yvonne Twomey
No. 3 - Paul Jones
Skip - Phil French
Strange to see Yvonne on a separate rink to Chris, but this made little difference as Phil's rink were never in any danger of losing, winning 11 of the 18 ends and coming home comfortable winners 21-11.
A very pleasant game played in ideal conditions and with a good result. Again a huge thank you to John, Mick and Steve who played for the opposition, and as usual to Jenny for looking after the bar and to Chris and Maggie for setting up the club house prior to the game. As mentioned earlier, no more games against OUP, but we will see their members, but under the flag of Begbroke in future seasons.
