It turned out to be a pleasant evening with a cool breeze ideal for our match which was reduced to 16 ends. We welcomed two new players, Rob Pink and his son Josh, to the midweek game and hope that it will be the start of a happy and successful relationship for all of us. It was also great to see Finlay and Jasper in our squad, a point that was picked up by some of the opposition who said it was important to see youngsters playing for the future of the game. The inclusion of the three lads must have reduced our group average age by at least 20 years! It was also good to see Dan Wegerhoff playing for the first time this season. Thanks to our hosts for lending us Jess to make up the numbers.
We won 2.5 to 1.5 on ends but the points score was 67 - 44.
Rink 2
Dan Wegerhoff, Jill Hart, Paul Jones and Bryan Ogilvie were 4 -10 down at 7 ends but they found their form and took six of the last nine ends to win 18 - 14.
Rink 4
Jess (W-C-M), Jasper Jelfs, Yvonne Twomey and Chris Twomey were never troubled taking 9 ends and four fours and a five saw them home in style 28 - 8.
Triple 5
Steve Clarke, Finlay Jelfs and Phil French were well matched with their opponents in a very even game with 8 ends each and a score of 10 - 10.
Triple 6
Josh Pink, Tony Bird and Rob Pink were 3 - 11 down at 10 ends but they found a purple patch and took five of the last six ends and just lost out 11 - 12.
An enjoyable evening and a pleasant supper, not to mention a good result, made for a good time.
