Saturday saw us travel to Little Compton for our return fixture, as they were our first opponents at the start of the season. The day was cloudy but nice and warm, just the conditions for playing bowls. For those who have not sampled the conditions of the Little Compton green, let me say I use the word 'green' loosely, however the game was played in good spirits but unfortunately we lost the game 48-56, which overturned the result from our home game against them when we were victors 88-59. I would like to thank Richard Lawrence, who kindly agreed to play for them, as they could only field 10 players. This meant we had to play 2 rinks and 1 triple, but as soon as we loan anyone to the opposition they always play out of their skin, and unfortunately Richard was no exception!!

As soon as the Captain realised he was playing on Rink 1 he knew he would be up against it, as usual it was like playing on a sheet of glass, I don't think I have seen so many wood in the ditch in one game. However, the opposition were also unable to read the green and as a result we came away with a comfortable victory 19-10.

Unfortunately Dave's rink came up against very strong opposition and very soon found themselves 11-0 down after 5 ends. They did however put up stiffer resistance over the next 13 ends losing these by 2 shots, but the end result was a loss 12-25.

Like Dave's rink Chris's rink gave the opposition a large start and were 7-0 down after 3 ends. But for this start they would have won the game, but unfortunately went down by 4 shots 17-21.
A very pleasant afternoon, with cake and sandwiches after the game, which went down well and we look forward to renewing our battles next season. Again a big thank you to Richard for agreeing to play for the opposition.
