On a lovely warm afternoon we travelled to play our one and only game during the season against Thame. It was a 2.0pm start, so we had to leave at 12.45pm, but thankfully there were no problems and we all arrived well in advance of the start. The game was a very tight affair with 1 rink winning by 1 shot, 1 losing by 1 shot and another drawing. It was only Skiddies rink who saw us home by a reasonably comfortable margin 63-51.

Rink 2 - Lead - Kath Buckingham

               No. 2 - Howard Buckingham

               No. 3 - Len Selby

               Skip - Mark Stokes

Mark's rink were up against 4 ladies, who were a very strong quartet and the game ebbed and flowed throughout. After 8 ends Mark's rink were ahead 8-3, but by the 14th end found themselves behind 11-8 and the teams were level 14-14 going into the final end which unfortunately we lost with a final result of 14-15.

Rink 3 - Lead - Norman Hyde (Loaned from Thame

              No. 2 - Sandra Shallis

               No. 3 - John Standen

              Skip - Bryan Ogilvie

Another very close game which, after 12 ends looked like we were in a strong position, leading 12-7. But we lost the next 4 ends and with 2 ends to play the score stood at 12-12. We picked up a 2 on the 17th and although we lost the last end we scraped home 14-13.

Rink 4 - Lead Yvonne Twomey

                No. 2 - Chris Shallis

                No. 3 - Richard Lawrence

               Skip - Chris Twomey

Chris got off to a flyer and were 9-1 ahead after 6 ends, however by the end of the 14th end the scores were level 11-11. Both teams won 2 of the final 4 ends with a result of a draw 14-14.

Rink 5 = Lead - Cliff Hall

                No. 2 - Terri Gold

                No. 3 - Pete Griffin

               Skip - Chris Skidmore

For the first 10 ends this game too was a close affair with the scores standing at 9-9. However Chris's rink got into top gear over the final 8 ends, not letting the opposition win any of these and coming home comfortable winners 21-9, which was the reason for our overall margin of success,

A very enjoyable game played in an excellent manner with, for a change, lovely weather.
