The day improved to leave a bright and sunny evening but with a very cold NE wind and to popular acclaim the match was shortened to 16 ends. Our guests mainly play league bowls, Adderbury being one of the few clubs that they play on a friendly basis, and showed their strength by winning 61 - 49, but we can take some comfort from the fact that the rink score was 2 all!
Rink 1
Cliff Hall, Pete Griffin and Chris Skidmore were 4 - 2 up at five ends against strong opposition but they only managed to pick up one more end to trail in 5 - 21,
Rink 2
Yvonne Twomey, Chris Twomey and Len Selby were well in control picking up 11 of the 16 ends to come home victors, and claim the bragging rights, with a 14 point margin 21 - 7.
Rink 3
Kath Buckingham, Mick Wilkins and Kevin Mytton were trailing 1 - 6 at five ends but they managed to find a six and a four in the last three ends to hand in a winning card 16 - 14.
Rink 4
Dave Drinkwater, Paul Jones and Mark Stokes were faced with a squad of county players and only won 6 ends to come home 7 - 19.
Rink 5
Richard Lawrence and Iain Mobbs played a pairs against Howard Buckingham and Tony Bird and won 20 - 14. My thanks to them for agreeing to play an "in house" game to save standing people down.
Thanks also to Maggie and Chris Skidmore for setting up the lounge and to Jenny Bird for running the bar for us.
We look forward to the return leg on 4th August when we know that it will be a much warmer evening!
